It is amazing when you live somewhere for a long time and still find things to amaze you. Remick in his current obsession with skiing brought us to Powder House Hill in South Berwick. How could we have never been there? 5 dollars. Rope tow. Volunteer run. 25 minutes away. Perfect place for kids and learning. And honestly the perfect place for someone who hasn't skied in 15 years to get back into it:)
We went with good friends and when we arrived they were short one volunteer and couldn't run the tow. Lucy realized that and immediately charged her way up the hill skis on her shoulders. If the tow wouldn't work she would just walk to the top. Which she did. She was unbelievable. And remick really didn't like that he was not immediately as good as her but he did great too. It was awesome.

Friends you don't see enough
Having friends over for dinner used to seem overwhelming. But the fullertons have sort of trained me to know that they will love us no matter what the shape of our house or the behavior of our children. So I've been feeling a little more adventurous lately and inviting other dear friends for dinner. And it feels good to be able to do that. And so glad to share that time with friends.
Hawaii Highlights
We had such a lovely trip to Hawaii last month. It was so great to see old friends and their growing families. I actually forgot how amazing Hawaii is. Too bad raph doesn't work in the summer so that we could winter in Hawaii. Seriously dreamy trip.

Remick and his best bud
Remick is pretty much obsessed with his friend Parker. It was fun to watch them sled together today - such different kids. Parker, the first child in his family, cautious, kind. Remick the second, fearless and sort of unaware of Parker's needs. Parker would chase him down the hill to help carry his sled back up and then Rem would insist on riding by himself leaving Parker to chase him down the hill again. And then of course Remick had his skiing to do:)

And we keep on going
I guess when you get a foot of snow in march you have to make the best of it. As it turns out we have a skier in our family. Raph was a great tow:)
Aren't we supposed to be planting peas or something??
Makili is off to Florida with his grandparents are we just got another foot of snow. In march. But it is actually a little fun since I missed the big storms this year when I was on the west coast. Remick snow shoed several miles with us this morning after shoveling the driveway. Fun.
No more excuses!
I just found the blogger app. I have no more excuses. Here's a favorite photo from an amazing trip to Hawaii

I know, I know
Well to be honest, I didn't really know about the whole thing with head injuries in hockey, but I do now. And I still love watching my kids play hockey. I don't know how you balance the fun and beauty with potential for long-term brain damage, but I intend to find a way. We had a great time this weekend on our friends' pond with a mixed-up group of people - exchange students, kids of all ages, and the adults. It was so fun, in such a quintessential New England way.

Earth Is Our Home - December
Some of my favorite shot from this month's Earth is Our Home class. We tracked animals in the snow. Made a fire - and Makili was the one to light it - he was so proud. We made a "quincy" which is like an igloo and did some sledding too. We also cooked sourdough cinnamon raisin bread on a stick in the fire. So cool. And we've gained some new friends who live far away in Acadia, so I'm hoping to work out some visits back and forth:)
