Before we went home

We came home last night, and though I'm still pretty sore, I'm happy to be home with Makili and Grammy and my garden, and my couch (laying fully flat on the bed is not too comfy.) I missed Makili terribly while I was in the hospital, even if he didn't seem to miss me too much. I can't play with him much still, but at least I'm here again when he wakes up in the morning.

We had several visitors while we were in the hospital, which was nice. Unfortunately we suffered a dead camera battery for some of those visitors like my cousin Tim who rocked him for a solid 15 minutes!, and Lauren and Sarah who came with their kids, Kayden and Brogan.

We did get to see and photograph Annma, Paka, Tamara, Jess, Rachel, Gina, Matty, and Kane. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our last day at the hospital.

Makili loves his brother

Makili is excited about his new brother. He gets upset when it is not his turn to hold the baby, unless of course Grammy distracts him with trucks or tractors or jumping.

Remick is here

Remick Perkins Matty was born at 2:53 EST on June 15th 2009. He is 8lb 6oz, and has a normal size head (36.5 cm as apposed to Makili's 39cm) Blayne is doing well with recovery, and Remick seems very healthy. He shares similarities with his brother principally needing something in his mouth or else he cries. These are a few of the pictures taken in the first ten minutes

The Weekend

After I went to the midwife's last week and learned that there was little chance I was going into labor any time soon, we decided to head up to Ann and Larry's (better known around these parts as Annma and Paka) for Sant Bani graduation and Kane's birthday. We were clear with Makili when we bought the soccer ball that it was for Kane and he walked around with it saying "Kane's soccer ball" until they had moved onto other things. He really helped Kane open it however. Here is Jason looking very Italian since he got back from Italy.
This is Makili giving Deanna a thumbs-up.
Makili and his Paka.
Here is the gift opening. Christmas might actually be fun this year in that way.
Paka bought this go-cart (and about 10 other toys for Makili). It was a HIT for both Makili and Kane. Only a few tears were shed over sharing...
Annma and Grammy.
Too cute.
We used to be two. This week we'll be FOUR!

The update

I went to the doctor this morning. No progress. No dialation. No effacement. Gigantic head. Very Discouraging. So we pretty much have this weekend to get things going. Monday we have an appointment for an ultrasound where they check on the placenta and amniotic fluid and all that. They will probably schedule a C-section for Wed. or Fri. of next week. We'll see.

Just the three of us...

These days have been sweet and comfortable. Sleeping in, having Makili come and jump in bed with us when he wakes up (he's been sharing a room with Grammy, so she pulls him out of bed and he comes into our room without me getting up.) He'll lay there with us, typically with a car or tractor in hand, and give us intermittent hugs as he drives his vehicle over our arms and covers. His new hugging method is the near-choke hold, where he wraps both arms around you neck and then wants to lay on your face. Terribly sweet, though not terribly comfortable. Yesterday I heard him conjugate a verb for the first time. He lost a car in bed and was saying over and over "find car." Raph picked it up and handed it to him and he said "Daddy found car." I was impressed. It really is hard to imagine adding another munchkin to the mix, even with Grammy here to entertain Makili half the time (and she does all the dishes and vacuumed out our car and sweeps, and...)

Due

I'm due TODAY, but still waiting. Tonight is a full moon. Maybe something interesting will happen. Camille requested more pictures of me on the blog, so I'm trying to oblige. Here I am chatting with Tamara about their lettuce garden and incredible number of tomato plants. Look at the size of that belly. Do you think he will ever come out?Tim giving directions, as usual.

And these are two pictures of Makili warming up the baby's seat for him. He thinks it is very clever the way the blanket is attached. We'll what he thinks when there is an actual baby in there...
I actually can't believe my baby is almost 2.

Yard Fun

Makili kissed the toad, but nothing happened. Oh well. Makili also decided to take a bath in the water table. He first went in with all his clothes on, but was perfectly happy to sit their like all day with his clothes off.

Skyrocketing Readership

My readership has been skyrocketing lately, with everyone to check in on the baby situation I guess. We're still hanging in there, working in the garden mostly. Sometimes we go to the beach and hang out for fun. Could be worse...
